The first season long schedule took place between May and October, 2016. The North Star Tour featured five open events which hosted players from around the country. The tour paid out a total of about $70,000 over the tournament schedule and assisted in the developement of many tournament golfers. 2016 also featured the tours very first Player of the Year award. This inagural award was hosted by Hudson Carpenter of Stillwater, MN, who won multiple events on the limited season. Other players capturing victories included: Dan Woltman, who played his previous season on the European Tour; Kelly Kretz, a former Marquette University standout and Northwest mini tour regular; and Zach Steffen, another rising mini tour player who played college golf at Iowa State University.
The North Star Tour plans to hold a handful of similar events in 2017 while continuing to build its growing schedule.
