The 2016
North Star Tour Championship

October 10-11th
The Jewel Golf Club (Lake City, MN)

Zach Steffen Wins the 2016 North Star Tour Championship!
Steffen, a native of Des Moines, IA conquered the experienced field and challenging course set for the championship. 16 of the North Star Tour's best players from the 2016 season qualified for the event. Although Steffen was an underdog on the bracket (13th seed), he showed that the talent ran deep into the rankings of the field.

Zach Steffen (IA) defeated Kyle Scanlon (Circle Pines, MN) 1 up in the final match for the matchplay victory. It makes sense that these two player met in the finals. Steffen a former Iowa State U. Cyclone and Kyle Scanlon a former U. of South Dakota Coyote both played collegiate golf in the windy conditions of the Midwest. Steffen (13th seed) a recent winner on other mini tours faced off against Scanlon (7th seed) who recently was awarded the Player of the Year for the nearby Chippewa Valley Golf Association. The two players both found the formula to good play at The Jewel Golf Club. Each player posted final match rounds under par in windy conditions. Steffen won in the end with a 2 under finish on the last 3 holes. A clutch performance that deserved the title.

The Jewel Golf Club is a beautiful Hale Irwin design that measures at 7,050 yards with a course rating of 74. The complex greens and challenging tee shots proved to be an excellent course for the matchplay finale to the North Star Tour season. We can't wait to play it again!
